Ink Fix #5 had us feeling royal, rare, expensive and exclusive.
The fifth box was themed for what has historically been the colour of empires: purple! A deviation from what we usually do, as every single ink in this month’s box was a shade of the same hue.
Featured inks in Ink Fix #5 were (from top to bottom in the above picture):
Tono and Lims Vitstyle Exclusive Sleepy Cat
This lovely indigo hue runs dry and fine
KWZ Special Edition V-Dream Vitstyle Exclusive
A dusky, slightly red purple with good, bold coverage
Graf von Faber-Castell Violet Blue
A mid-saturation blueish-purple that shades well in most nibs
Robert Oster FPA Kada Kada Light (Pensive Pens exclusive)
A moody shade of grey-purple that looks good in every nib size
Penlux Mò Plum (bottle 410/999)
A deep plum-purple with a hint of gold sheen
Jacques Herbin Amethyste de l’Oural 1798
A rich royal purple with silver shimmer
Troublemaker Inks Milky Ocean
Another dichroic masterpiece in purple and blue
Why no bonus goodie this time? We discussed this in the insert for this month’s Ink Fix.
Short version: we figured harder-to-find inks would be more appreciated than stickers.
Long version: we feel that giving out something for the sake of giving something, without it being useful and/or theme-appropriate, kind of cheapens the experience. We’d rather put in something that makes you go “wow!” every now and then, than something that makes you go “meh” every time. The money we might spend on a “meh” can go towards an ink for you instead!
