Online shopping shouldn’t cost the Earth

Figuratively, or literally.

Fountain Pen Supplies came into being to offer Australian and New Zealander fountain pen users options that didn’t involve astronomical shipping costs, and by extension, the cost to the environment of having items shipped from all over the globe.

All of the shipping options we offer are carbon neutral through the purchase of carbon offsets through our delivery partner Australia Post. It doesn’t stop there though— we’re proud of all the little things we do to help out #humblebrag

Reuse, reduce, recycle

You might notice that your order comes to you in… well, less than pretty boxes, sometimes. We make a point of reusing as much packaging from our suppliers as we can, ensuring that we keep bubble wrap and packing foam out of landfill for at least one more use cycle, and saving you money by not having to add the cost of new packaging to our overheads. Everybody wins!

We’re committed to reducing the amount of plastics in our products. While it is sometimes unavoidable due to the nature of some items, we’re looking at changing what we can: for instance, the packing sleeves for some of our smaller items (such as brass shims and micromesh) will be switched to recyclable paper wraps as we run out of our existing stock.

What we’re unable to reuse, we try our best to recycle— and we hope you will too! The ink vials, syringes and pipettes we sell can all be washed and reused multiple times, and when they reach the end of their usability, they can be recycled to start a new life as a new product instead of wasting away in landfill.

Giving new purpose to old waste

Have you seen our empty ink bottles on offer? We’ve seen some wildly crafty and clever customers make beautiful things with reused bottles— and just to double down on how much giving back means to us, 100% of the sale price of our empty ink bottles gets donated to charity. Seriously! We post the receipts and brag about it on social media, so you can see for yourself that your money is going where we say it’s going. Transparency is pretty important to us, so we’ll absolutely take part in a dialogue if you want to talk about what we’re doing or what you think we could do better.
