Annoyed by using the left page of coil/ring-bound notebooks and having to scrunch up and over the binding? Not anymore! Kokuyo Soft Ring notebooks have rings made of soft plastic that squish down when you rest your hand on them, so using both sides of the page or a notebook with the pages folded back is much more comfortable. The rings are D-shaped, to allow your notebook to stack completely aligned, and the soft olefin resin material means that they won’t scratch up other items in your bag.

These A5 notebooks are great for the desk and on-the-go, with durable covers made of waterproof plastic and 50 sheets of silky-smooth Kokuyo wood-free paper. The Japanese-made paper is 70gsm, pH neutral, archival-quality, and FSC certified, with a roomy 8mm dotted rule that makes alignment and gridding easy. A subtle printed number at the page’s outer edge keeps count of every five lines so you know where you are at all times.

At an eye-friendly 83% whiteness, you can use them in full sun without the glare taking you out— and the off-white correction tape is a perfect match for hiding any mistakes you might make. Fountain pen-friendly with very minimal feathering or bleeding, this paper shows some shading but no-to-little sheen (due to its relatively quick dry time). A small amount of ghosting can be seen through the thin sheets.
