Soft bristles allow you to dust away dried ink and other debris that get caught in screw threads and other gaps without scratching the material.

To prolong the life of your brush and reduce the risk of corrosion or contamination in the ferrule (the metal part that holds the bristles to the wooden handle), a wet brush should be stored or dried bristle-end down.
